YOU CAN PUT LIPSTICK ON A PIG
Stuff Happening Because of Trump’s Crazy Rhetoric on the Campaign Trail
Republicans should have seen this coming. Maybe they did and do not care. That is harsh, I know, but I have no other explanation why Republicans allowed Donald Trump to become the party’s standard bearer without much scrutiny. I have called this lack of courage in leadership, and now we are beginning to see how Trump’s lack of discipline in campaigning, his inability to tell the truth even when there is nothing at stake and his lack of restraint in saying crazy and outlandish stuff from accusing Mexico for sending immigrants who are drug dealers, rapists and murderers to making a preposterous claim President Barack Obama, the man who ordered the killing of US most wanted terrorist Osama Bin Laden, somehow is in the tank with terrorists against the country he leads and founded ISIS. These assertions and their frequency, suggests Trump needs to bow out of the race because something is really wrong with him. Now Trump is running around saying the only way he could lose is if the election were rigged. He is down in polls in almost every battle ground state, he is losing support even among Republicans and he is turning off Independents because he is running an incompetent fear-based campaign and somehow he expects to win? But the biggest concern right now is when Trump, the self-proclaimed candidate of law enforcement
said implied that his Democratic Party opponent could or would be assassinated if she appointed a Supreme Court Judge to replace the late conservative Justice Antonin Scalia? This was not an easy to understand and a typically incoherent Trumpian statement but the message was clear to those watching and even his audience. One gentleman sitting in the audience behind Trump, and hilariously noted by Comedy Central’s Trevor Noah, was visibly shocked and could be seen mouthing the word “wow.” This is what Trump said:
Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish the Second Amendment. If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people—maybe there is, I don’t know. But—but I’ll tell you what. That will be a horrible day. If—if Hillary gets to put her judges—right now, we’re tied. You see what’s going on.
Mainstream Republicans have generally condemned Trump’s statement, but it doesn’t matter what they think, it’s the base whom Trump plays for and this is how they are reacting to these statements online, thanks to Media Matters of America.
