HIS LEGACY ENDURES 50 YEARS AFTER DEATH

FRESNANS MARK MLK DAY WITH A MESSAGE OF UNITY

On a chilly Monday morning, several hundreds of Fresnans marched to mark the 50th Anniversary since the assassination of Civil Rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Marchers peacefully walked several blocks in downtown Fresno and congregated at the City Hall, where they listened to speeches by various leaders including Fresno District 3 Councilman Oliver Baines, Congressman Jim Costa, Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer, Fresno District 1 Councilwoman Esmeralda Soria, among others. The speakers decried the general lack of civility in the current political environment and called for citizens not to despair and be active in seeking better governance.
